In 2014, Scottish Forestry supported the planting of 51,000 trees along the contours of two areas in upper Glen Clova.
This project has multiple benefits: it supports Scottish Government policies (on woodland expansion and carbon sequestration), provides benefits to agriculture, enhances biodiversity and helps to reduce peak flows.
In late 2024 proposals were discussed to plant 1.5 million trees over 1000 ha across two more properties within Glen Clova, with yet further potential to plant 6 million trees across 4000 ha in the next 3 years.
